There are several reasons that I choose this particular movie for the week. First of all life here at CHAT is not a solo act. Although everyone has unique and wonderful gifts to contribute to our work here in CHAT, the only truly most effective way for this organization to work is as a team. The most brillant music is made when we all work together and combine our individual gifts together. This week I have especially noticed this dynamic especially on Tuesday when while I was watching Brian's class, Andrea and Kerri took care of snack prepartions for me.

Seven Pounds
Submitted by Sarah Craven on Sun, 07/12/2009 - 14:19.If you have seen the movie to the title of this blog, please don't go into alarm. Everything at camp is well and this week has actually given me a lot of reflection time, but I still think the idea of this movie express a lot about my internship and hopefully in good ways. This week we had an intern retreat for two days at Lake Anna and I am so thankful for the rest and the reflection that I recieved in that time. It was also good to catch up with the other interns.

Camp Rock!
Submitted by Sarah Craven on Sun, 06/28/2009 - 14:17.I'm am so excited because this was the first full week of our day camp. I think the title of my blog describes well what I thought of the past week. Although we might not all be busting out in song and dance every five minutes (although there is definately some pumped up Ice Cream and Cake time), our camp definately rocked it out this week. Although I fully admit that I am wiped at the end of the day, I am truly enjoying the diverse activities that I participate in- even the extras outside of day camp like my mentor and mentoree meetings, attending church with some of the kids today to represent CHAT, and morning devotions. There is so much to take in sometimes it is hard to know what to reflect on.

The Great Escape
Submitted by Sarah Craven on Sun, 06/21/2009 - 13:15.So this week I've decided to title my blog The Great Escape after the classic movie about escaping from a prisoner of war camp. Now I know this might seem an odd connection, but the CHAT crew just returned from a camping trip and in many ways it was a great escape for us. I love going camping or any old trip away because there are so many possibilities. First there is the possiblities of pushing your comfort zone. For many of the CHAT crew camping is definately one of those experiences. When you grow up in a city, going out into the forest can be a challenge. There are so many things to encounter out there, and I have to say the kids handled it great: from the muddy water, to the bugs, and very little light at night. Most of our kids were so willing to embrace the experience- even sleeping on the ground- although by that time I think most of us could've slept anywhere. There is also the oppurtunity in many ways to be completely free- the kids could decide what they wanted to do during the day from swimming and boating to a bit of corn wall. They had the chance to choose and make decisions for themselves.

A Tale of Two Cities
Submitted by Sarah Craven on Sun, 06/07/2009 - 13:15.It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. For those of you who already know me or maybe even read The Chronicles of Craven when I was in Belfast, I do not like to just blog. I like to have some type of thematic scheme going on to help me write. Last time I did classic book titles and although this time I think I might do movies, A Tale of Two Cities was the first thing that popped into my head to describe this week and also seemed the best fit- so I'm claiming that it was adapted into a movie so it is legit.
